I think we need to ignore whether or not a book is an award winner. We are trying to choose books that students will like and want to vote for -- sometimes that is an award winner, sometimes not.Are we settled on 2005 - 2007 for titles?
I agree with that. Repeating an award is a bad thing, but refusing to consider an award winner would be possibly missing what they kids really like.Anyone have strong feelings on "excluding" award winners? Lets not unless we have a couple of us think we should avoid them.
I agree with Mary Jane. I think we should avoid major award titles when possible. However, I love the ALA Notables. Would that count? Also, some of the newer books might end up winning an award.
